Kose – Clear Turn Sorry Bare Skin Good Night Repair Cream 50g
Kose Clear Turn Sorry Bare Skin Good Night Repair Cream 50g is one of those products that immediately catches your attention because of its adorable packaging. The design is charming and playful, perfectly reflecting the cute aesthetic that Japanese skincare is known for. It looks inviting on the shelf and gives the impression of being a comforting nighttime treatment. The jar is compact, practical and feels like a product you would genuinely look forward to using as part of your evening skincare routine.
The texture instantly reminded me of a traditional Japanese steam cream, which is a popular category of rich, deeply moisturizing creams in Japan. It has a soft, fluffy consistency that spreads easily across the skin and initially feels nourishing and protective. If you are familiar with Japanese steam creams, this product has a very similar rich and comforting texture.
When I first tried it, I made the mistake of treating it like an ordinary face moisturizer that could be worn during the day. Unfortunately, that did not work well for my skin. The cream has a noticeably oily finish and takes an exceptionally long time to absorb. For several hours after application, it remains on the surface of the skin, leaving a shiny, greasy layer that feels quite heavy. It never really settles into a comfortable daytime finish and makes layering sunscreen or makeup difficult. If you are expecting a lightweight moisturizer that disappears into the skin within a few minutes, this product will likely feel disappointing.
However, I realised that the product should really be judged based on its intended purpose. It is marketed as a night repair cream, and when used exactly as directed, it performs much better. I began applying it generously as the final step in my evening skincare routine, almost like a sleeping pack or what some people refer to as a “pillow cream.” In that role, the rich texture actually makes sense. While it still feels oily immediately after application, it gradually absorbs throughout the night while you sleep.
The biggest difference becomes apparent the following morning. Instead of waking up with greasy skin, I found that the cream had finally absorbed, leaving my face feeling soft, moisturized and comfortable. My skin felt well hydrated without feeling tight or dry, and the overnight nourishment was much more noticeable than when I tried to use it during the daytime.
This is definitely not a cream I would recommend for daytime wear, particularly for those with combination or oily skin. It is simply too rich and slow to absorb for use under makeup or sunscreen. However, if you are looking for a deeply moisturizing overnight treatment and use it strictly as a night cream, it performs much more effectively and delivers the hydration it promises.
Overall, Kose Clear Turn Sorry Bare Skin Good Night Repair Cream is a product that makes much more sense once you use it as intended. The adorable packaging and comforting steam cream-like texture make it enjoyable to use, but its heavy, oily consistency means it is best reserved exclusively for bedtime. Used as an overnight “pillow cream,” it absorbs while you sleep and leaves your skin feeling soft, nourished and well moisturized by morning.
