TEAOLOGY Green Tea Detox Face Scrub Review
This will be a review of TEAOLOGY’s Green Tea Detox Face Scrub, which I received as a part of the brand’s Christmas Hydrating & Nourishing Beauty Routine set in a 20ml sized tube. The price of the entire set was 48.95€ and the full sized version supplied in a 50ml jar is sold for 32€.
According to the manufacturer’s website and packaging, the product contains Real Green Tea leaves and Sugar crystals and promises Radiant glow in 1 minute.
Here is the full product description:
”Magic for the skin. An exfoliating butter-creamwhose soft texture contains real tea leaves and sugar micro-crystals with a moisturizing and soothing effect. The antioxidant Organic Green Tea extract, combined with precious nourishing and purifying vegetable oils brightens the skin tone and leaves the complexion looking perfect. When massaged over the face and neck it gently removes dead cells, and it detoxes and minimizes pores, leaving the skin soft, radiant and even in less than a minute: simply perfect.
96% OF ORIGIN INGREDIENTS”
The instructions for use state that this face scrub is perfect for all skin’s types, therefore it should be fine for my oily skin as well.
After opening the tube and squeezing some of its content on the back of my hand, I can see that the liquid looks and smells really refreshing! It comes as a transparent gel of a light green shade, mixed with large chunks of green tea leaves and sugar crystals.
The ingredients according to the manufacturer are:
CAMELLIA SINENSIS LEAF- Organic Green Tea Infusion
Green Tea is an unfermented tea with a unique antioxidant power because it contains vitamins B and C, catechins- Epigallocatechin (EGCG) gallate – minerals and aminoacids: Anti-aging, Brightening, Purifying, Firming, Reshaping and Detoxing.
ALMOND OIL
Antioxidant, moisturizing, soothing, nourishing and elasticizing action.
ROSEHIP
Antioxidant, moisturizing, soothing and reduce pores.
The formula does not include: Parabens, paraffins, mineral oils, SLS, SLES, synthetic dyes, silicones, formaldehyde donors.
The entire list of ingredients follows:
Water, Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil, Laureth-4, Hydrogenated Castor oil, Fructose, Glyceryl dibehenate, Isopropyl myristate, Camelia Sinensis leaf extract, Helianthus annuus seed oil, Rosa moschata seed oil, Triticum vulgare germ oil, Linalool, Butylphenyl methylpropional, Alpha-isomethyl ionone, Camelia Sinensis leaf extract, Citronellol, Limonene, BHT, Tocopheryl acetate
The instructions for use advise for the lotion to be massaged gently in circular motions on the forehead, nose, chin and cheeks. It should be left for a few seconds then rinsed. When it comes into contact with water it should turn into a milk that leaves the skin smooth and moisturized. The face scrub can be used once or twice a week.
Another option is to use it as a mask to appreciate the hydrating and purifying properties leaving in for 1 to 3 minutes.
I used the face scrub daily by massaging it across my face. Despite the initial refreshing smell, I have to say that I wasn’t impressed and didn’t notice any radiant glow or other promised brightening and soothing effects.
This face scrub is too gentle to remove any dead skin cells and it feels as if I was cleaning my face with a foam rather than using a peeling. It leaves my skin with uncomfortable oily residue from the gel and I have to clean it again with a cleanser.
So, I wouldn’t recommend this product for someone with oily skin, who is looking for a decent face scrub to remove impurities. However, it may work for a dry skin.
